Forrest J Ackerman passed away on December 4, 2008. I'll be honest, I only bought a few issues of his signature magazine
Famous Monsters of Filmland. But I certainly read my older brother's copies. One of things I haven't read in any of the other tributes to Forry. One of the great things this magazine did back in the 1970's before VCRs was to allow us to simply see the stills to these movies. Stuff like old Val Lewton and Hammer movies just weren't staples on the networks when I grew up and often Forry's magazine was the only glimpse of such movies we had.
