Lawson Wood Propaganda Calendar Art

Lawson Wood (1878-1947) was a prolific British illustrator. He illustrated childrens' books and magazine covers. He was most well known for his depictions of monkeys in various human-like situations. These illustrations are calendar done for a propaganda calendar published by Brown & Bigelow sometime during World War II. Lot more examples of his art here.

Walt Reed Illustration Archive


Artstor has the Walt Reed illustration Archive online here. Reed was the author of The Illustrator in America and the founder of The Illustration House. This collection consists of over 200,000 magazine tear sheets depicting works by American illustrators from the late 19th century well into the mid 20th century. Posted below are a few samples I found from just a few minutes browsing.

Science-Fiction Plus


Science Fiction Plus was a large format science fiction and fact magazine first published by Hugo Gernsback in March 1953. The magazine featured top writers like Clifford Simak, Frank Belknap Long, Robert Bloch and Philip Jose Farmer. It also had covers and illustrations by legendary science-fiction artists Alex Schomburg, Frank R. Paul, Virgil Finlay and Lawrence Sterne Stevens. Sadly, the magazine only published seven issues.
