Summary Execution under the Moorish Kings of Grenada
Here's a painting that will get your attention. It was painted by Henri Regnault (1849-1871). The original hangs in the Musee d'Orsay in Paris. I got to see it when I was there years ago.
This is one of the greatest paintingw in the world. I go back to see it every time I'm in Paris. The van Gogh gallery upstairs is wonderful, all the Monet's quite sublime and pleasing, but this piece has more power in it and expresses so much of the human project in all its violent glory, that the viewer cannot take eyes off it.
